We’re a friendly and active Scout Troop based in Tilehurst, Reading, meeting every Friday evening from 7:30 to 9:30pm at our Scout Hall on Armour Hill.

Chieftain Scouts is open to young people aged 10 to 14½, and we offer a packed, varied programme full of adventure, challenges, and personal growth. Whether it’s pioneering, hiking, biking, kayaking, camping, cooking, or developing practical skills, every Scout night is designed to be engaging, inclusive and fun.

Our programme blends activity, education and adventure, helping Scouts build confidence, resilience, leadership and teamwork skills—all while having a great time with friends.

Over the past few years, our Scouts have:

  • Attended RIAT (Royal International Air Tattoo)
  • Completed expeditions across the country
  • Taken part in week-long summer camps in Wales and Dorset
  • Competed in cooking and hiking competitions
  • Enjoyed a full calendar of events, both at the hall and out in the wild

Many of our Scouts have gone on to earn their Chief Scout Gold Award—the highest award in the section—and have moved up into Explorers, where they’ve continued their journey through international camps and wider Scouting adventures.

Looking ahead to 2026, we’re excited to be sending a contingent to the WINGS 2026 International Jamboree in Windsor—a life-changing opportunity to meet Scouts from all over the world.

At Chieftain Scouts, we live by the Scouting values of integrity, respect, care, belief and cooperation, and strive to give every young person the chance to grow, lead and thrive.

If you’re ready for a new adventure—come and join us!
